ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My practice is an atmospheric exploration of the Canadian Shield, specifically the rugged, rhythmic terrain of Georgian Bay. As a Contemporary Impressionist, I am drawn to the 'quiet strength' of the wilderness – places where light, colour, and atmosphere offer both sanctuary and refuge.

Informed by immersive experiences while hiking and kayaking, my work seeks the soul of the landscape rather than a literal transcription of it. I view the solitary windswept pines and ancient granite islands not merely as subjects, but as symbols of resilience and quiet endurance in an uncertain world.

Through a harmonious yet bold palette, I prioritize the emotional resonance of a scene over its simple depiction. My goal is to create a visual pause – an invitation for the viewer to breathe and reconnect with a landscape where strength and softness coexist.
