Shiva Tamara

Shiva Tamara is a mixed media artist based in Los Angeles, California. She founded her independent design studio in Venice Beach in 2018 and has since grown into an internationally working artist and designer, collaborating with clients across the globe.
At the core of her work is a deep exploration of feminism and the female form. By reclaiming and challenging traditional notions of beauty, Shiva empowers women and confronts the societal expectations placed upon them. Her art depicts the female body as a symbol of strength, resilience, and agency, transforming objectification into a celebration of individuality, diversity, and unapologetic beauty. Each piece is a visual manifesto for gender equality and a catalyst for honest dialogue.
Shiva works primarily in mixed media and collage, drawn to the freedom of layering and transforming the traditional into something entirely new. Her original paintings also serve as the foundation for a line of upcycled wearable art, limited edition, sustainable pieces, where every creation tells its own story.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

When I create, I disappear. The world goes quiet, and something else takes over, a zone I've been finding my way back to since I was a child. I moved constantly growing up. New cities, new schools, never quite belonging. Art was the one place I could express myself without needing anyone to understand me first. It was mine. It still is.
That loneliness shaped everything I make. Because what I want more than anything is for someone to stand in front of my work and feel the opposite of alone. To feel seen. Understood. Like someone out there gets it, gets them.
A lot of my work centers on women and the female experience because I know what it feels like to move through the world carrying things that were never yours to carry. I paint the female form not as the world has defined it, but as it actually is, strong, complex, and completely unapologetic.
I create because it's the truest thing I know how to do. And I keep creating because the world needs more honesty in it.
