ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My artwork is an expression of the need to take time for contemplation; to sit in the quiet moments while trying to make sense of the world around us. Just as my images are blended into textured backgrounds, so too are we all inseparable from our contexts. This process reflects my belief that we are all connected, with shared responsibilities for one another and for our environment. I am intrigued by the many stories that make up who we are, represented by the layers of materials into which each figure is embedded. My work places figures in their personal landscapes whether that is a recognizable or abstracted space.
