Umbreen Hasan

Umbreen Hasan is a Minnesota-based multidisciplinary artist and healthcare professional whose work bridges science, emotion, and contemporary abstraction. Working primarily with alcohol inks, encaustics, resin, and mixed media, she creates luminous, textured pieces inspired by nature, movement, and inner transformation.
A nationally recognized artist, her work has been exhibited in galleries and public spaces across the United States and featured in design publications. Hasan’s artistic journey began as a therapeutic practice, evolving into a powerful visual language that explores resilience, beauty, and the unseen layers of experience.
Her practice is defined by fluidity and depth—where pigments move intuitively, surfaces build through layers, and each piece carries a sense of calm, energy, and reflection.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My work is an exploration of movement, memory, and emotional resonance—where material becomes a language for what cannot be spoken. Working across alcohol inks, encaustics, resin, and mixed media, I am drawn to processes that are both controlled and unpredictable, allowing each piece to evolve organically.
Nature is a constant influence—not in literal representation, but in essence. The fluidity of water, the quiet strength of landscapes, and the rhythm of changing light all inform my visual vocabulary. I build surfaces in layers—sometimes delicate and translucent, sometimes textured and sculptural—mirroring the complexity of human experience.
My journey with art began as a therapeutic practice, a way to navigate stress and reconnect with a sense of balance. Over time, it has grown into a deeper inquiry into transformation, resilience, and beauty within imperfection. Each work invites stillness—a moment to pause, reflect, and feel.
I do not seek to replicate what is seen, but to evoke what is felt.
