ARTIST’S STATEMENT

For me art creation, despite of the enjoyment and satisfaction, is a slow process.
Initially, my approach was controlled seeking figurative subjects such as models. Lately, I work
with abstracts ideas, instinctive, expressive and influenced by cultue symbolizm.
Also, I am espcially influenced by expressive abstratct artists of the NY 50's.
Works on this site have been created over the last 10 years and represent variety in subjects, technique and influences.

This painting is an homage to 5 artists who painted Abstract Expressionism in NY during the 1950s - Andy Warhol, Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, Yayoi Kusama and Ad Reinhardt. The painting combines elemnts similar to their works in a new composition. For short the work may also be called "Chicken Soup" for the very distinct Cambell's Chicken Soup can.

Driving at night in Southern Ontario I caught a glimpse of a house on the hill surrounded by the darkness and only 3 doors are lighted, like a safe entry from the menacing night. Please note that the painting's visibility is impacted by the lighting and may appear darker than in the picture.
