Inspired by light, color, and nature.

Inspired by light, color, and nature. Elizabeth realized at a very young age that art and creating was her passion, her calling.

Graduating with a degree in Graphic Design, she commenced working at an advertising agency in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Elizabeth enjoyed city life, but an opportunity arose to travel across Canada and throughout the United States with fellow artists. This adventure provided her with invaluable artistic insights and enriching life experiences. Upon return to Ontario, Canada, she settled out of the city to a smaller town in Northern Ontario. Here Elizabeth started up a successful illustration studio called, Illustratus. Elizabeth displayed her artistic diversity by creating illustrations and design for businesses such as Pet Smart as well as fine art commissions for collectors such as NHL hockey players.

Several years later, on a meditation retreat in New York, United States, a momentous event occurred in Elizabeth's life. It was a time of deep introspection. This profoundly shifted her artistic focus from fine detail work to painting with a sense of freedom; uninhibited.

Elizabeth now paints in thick oils with an impressionistic vigor, aspiring to rouse an awakening or emotion in her viewer; to feel the joy in the vivid colors and subjects.

Elizabeth's work has been exhibited in Northern Ontario, Vancouver, and Victoria, British Columbia. Her work has also been featured in several magazines. Most recently, Elizabeth's work was featured in 'Women in Art 278' magazine and Art Quench Magazine's, Masters Edition.

Elizabeth's themes are those that resonate with her inner passions and reflect her deep appreciation for nature. Subjects that make her smile or inspire a sense of awe often bring her into the studio for 8 to 15 hour days. From driving down a country road and seeing a breathtaking field of sunflowers to the way the light sparkles on a koi pond, for Elizabeth, inspiration is everywhere.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Artist's Statement:
To me art is everything. I have been painting my whole life but as a full time artist since 2010. I take my inspiration from nature. I express my love for our earth, and every living creature on it; plant and animal, through my vibrant oil paintings. Always striving to make an impact and leave the observer of my work in awe. I paint to bring the joy and beauty of nature to the viewer.

Exciting things are happening in the studio. Recently I find my strong attraction to abstract painting guiding my direction. My focus is on bringing the passion I have for abstract painting and harmonizing it with my love for my impressionist roots.

However, as you will see and feel, you will continue to be able to identify my work by the vibrant colors, usage of light, and distinctive luminous ambiance.

Temporary Shelter is created with a distinctly impressionistic flair and bold modern colors.

As I have always been inspired by the master Van Gogh, I wanted this to be reminiscent of that work. As well I wanted the viewer to feel the movement and hear the wind rustling in the meadow. This is my painting of a young fox finding shelter in the tall grass from the fast-approaching night, and storm.

The sides are carefully painted and bring the image around covering the entire canvas. It is wired and ready to display.

Temporary Shelter will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

This is a painting from childhood memories of delicious summers spent at a Saskatchewan farm. We played all day with the animals and lounged in the tall grass watching the clouds roll by. I was always mesmerized by the beautiful rooster.

The image wraps around the sides with meticulous detail. At Bork's Farm is wired and ready for display.

I love to play with the rippling water and how it interacts with the life below the surface. This is my painting of a Koi pond where the lily pads are abundant and colorful. The raindrops gently make shimmering ripples in the water abstracting the forms of the Koi. As with all my painting the sides are carefully painted with the main image wrapping around the canvas. All my painting are wired and ready to hang.

Yellow Lily Pond will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

It is vibrant and alive with expressive bursts of color and movement.

This is my painting of the beautiful Koi fish. I am entranced by their color and movement and find great joy in painting them. Here the Koi swim peacefully in a pond with a rocky bottom.

As with most of my work this piece has a vibrant color palette with a modern impressionist feel.

It is also interesting to note that Koi fish are traditionally symbolic of prosperity and good fortune.

Whoever looks round sees Eternity there." - John Clare

In Sunrise Susie I was envisioning nature waking. As I was painting I could almost hear the morning breaking through the trees, and the hum of the insects rising to start their day.

To me this painting represents new beginnings. It is my reminder that the world has so much beauty to offer. It also represents for me, that there are always brighter days on the horizon. It is about renewed life, hopes and dreams.

To me storms can be beautiful. I love to be inside and listen to the wind and rain hitting the roof. The clouds formations, so beautiful and the stillness. Then after the storm has passed the fresh, damp air to inhale. This is what I was thinking when I was painting, Storm Over Golden Valley.

"Clouds descending, bowing deeper,
Within their center, shadows form,
And, as if this world's a sleeper,
It lays waiting for the storm.
After the onslaught of the raindrops,
Silence all around is heard,
Then within this peaceful stillness,
Awakes the sweet notes of a bird." - Ernestine Northover

This is my painting combining my love of sunflowers and my passion for dramatic skies. The sunflower radiates its brilliant energy to light the way.

It interesting to note that in some cultures the sunflower symbolizes loyalty and adoration. In China they mean long life, good fortune, and vitality.

It seems wherever you are, the sunflower is a positive force that gives joy and peace to the beholder. They are certainly a joy to paint.

Illuminant is vibrant and alive with wonder.
