ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Textiles have a unique way of holding memories and stories. My work takes discarded fabrics and textile scraps, transforming them into sculptural pieces that invite viewers to explore texture, color, and movement. I gather materials and use improvisational sewing techniques to create imagery inspired by nature—trees, mountains, and coastal landscapes that emerge from the sketches in my notebook into textile wall pieces.
Color is central to my practice, rooted in memories of exploration and the natural world. I am drawn to vibrant, harmonious color palettes, inspired by places like the inside of an anemone, the patterns of shells, or the shifting greens of a forest.
Living in coastal California, I am reminded daily of nature’s ability to heal. My work reflects this idea: that brokenness, though evident, can also be beautiful. Through gathering and mending discarded materials, I create new pieces that tell fragmented yet whole stories—offering a sense of healing over time.
