ARTIST’S STATEMENT

In my figurative and abstract paintings, I strive to express the mysterious and intangible qualities of nature and human experience, the feelings, sensations and captured moments that can not be easily expressed in words. In my abstract landscapes, often rendered in vivid and surprising colours, I am finding metaphors for human emotion. In my lyrical, non-narrative abstracts, I am capturing a moment allowing the mysterious unconscious to speak through me to things that can not be expressed in words.

"When the Storm has Passed" is an abstract Landscape that celebrates the emergence of a bright new day full of new possibilities. It symbolizes how storms pass through our lives and make room for renewal and growth.

I love marshlands and the unique ecology they create. They are a habitat for birds and many forms of wildlife. There is nothing like walking out on the marsh to see all the vegetation and, of course, the mist rising on the water.
