After the Rain

Oil and mixed media on canvas.

12x12x1.50"

An expressive celebration of the spontaneous beauty of a garden in bloom. Soft pink and lavender flowers gather against a lively ground of turquoise, blue, green, and warm cream. Layers of oil and mixed media, loose brushwork, and flashes of unexpected colour give the painting a sense of movement and joyful imperfection.

I wanted to capture the feeling of being surrounded by flowers, the abundance, colour, energy, and simple pleasure of noticing something beautiful born of the rain.
