AFTER the STORM Jan. 2026
after a heavy snowstorm, as evening set in, the entire world around me captured the nuances of reflected light: in pinks, gold, lavender and blue. Motivated by this colorscape, I focused on the changing colors.
The brushstrokes are loose and dynamic, creating a rich textural surface and a sense of movement across the canvas. There are gestural marks that suggest organic forms and calligraphic symbols, weaving in and out of the more ethereal, misty background layers. The gold circular patterns add an element of sparkle and depth, drawing the viewer’s eye throughout the piece.
This piece beautifully captures the essence of abstract expressionism while maintaining a delicate balance between energy and subtlety.
