This is from a scene I snapped during a midafternoon stop at Apple Saddlery. I wanted my camera to capture the precise moment when the angles line up and the dry, gritty earth of the parking lot felt like a flashback to an Edward Hopper painting. I was struck by the way the rawness of the old, hard metal glaring in the sun contrasted with the place where warm-blooded equine beasts resided. It felt like a moment standing in the middle of the Nevada desert.
