Clematis & Roses at Golden Hour

Oil on linen.

30x40x1"

Imagine yourself quietly sitting here at the sunset hour, watching how the sky glows soft with amber and gold, and long bands of lilac clouds drift where the warmth begins to cool. Far off, the mountains rest in blue silhouette, and the low sun lays a bright path of gold across the sea. Close at hand, clematis and roses climb a weathered white post, their faces turned to the last of the light — blush, rose, and deep pink, with a few buds still to open. Overhead, a tall maple spreads its canopy, its leaves green and just touched with bronze. It is the quiet hour when the garden and the sea share one warm glow, and the whole coast seems to hold its breath before the dark.
