Clementina is part of a series called "Captured Moments". The series shines a light on the internment of Italian Canadians during the Second World War. My Grandfather was arrested and interned at Camp Petawawa and Clementina, my grandmother worked tirelessly writing letters to government officials advocating for his release. The irony of this event is that his five oldest sons were serving in the Canadian Armed Forces at the time of his arrest. I transcribed my grandmothers letters onto handmade paper made by my aunt before tearing and machine stitching the fragments together.
