In the Indio Badlands in California, an abandoned scarf danced in the dusty wind.
From the original photographs of the scarf, this series emerged, a project of invention rather than representation. Cloud Muse offers a conversation with nature. In this image, embedding a found object —the scarf —illuminates the animating spirits of nature — the muse, if you will. They hint at evocative narratives. These images also suggest a liminal space—a fluid crossover between the imagined and the real, the natural and the constructed, the authentic and the fabricated. Although Muse is elusive and capricious, in Cloud Muse she is a melody to the light and the clouds, a musical note just at the edge of what’s audible.

Cloud Muse can be mounted with Tree Muse Together, they appear reaching for each other with an unexpected and startling sentience.
