Compression Ratio rests at the intersection of art and science, merging geometric repetition with organic motion. Each crane is folded from patterned Chiyogami, offering a rich texture and shimmering visual rhythm. In creating this piece, I selected a diverse palette of papers to represent each folded element as a distinct life, moment, or crossing. Dense rows are arranged to create a wave like motion, layered and intricate, much like people’s journeys.

The gradients of colour shifting along the piece act like waves of memory, diaspora, and change. Reinforcing movement is not just physical. It is emotional, cultural, and generational.
