Final Swarm

Oil & watercolour on wood panel.

24x28"

After going through and recovering from several surgical procedures I have adopted the hospital gown as a symbol of humanity’s unhealthy relationship with Mother Nature and as a personal metaphor for triumph over adversity. In this piece there is a swarm of endangered bees taking refuge with the woman fighting her way through the turmoil of the surf break, overcoming the obstacle together and not drowning…for today.
