Goodbye reflects the complicated feeling of letting go: sadness for what is ending, alongside the quiet possibility of change. Dark, branching lines cross a field of shimmering colour, suggesting paths that separate, meet, and continue in new directions. The many small spaces between the lines feel like separate memories, each holding its own colour and light. Though the title speaks of parting, the painting also carries a sense of connection—the branches remain joined as they move outward.

I created the composition through an intuitive process, allowing the flowing lines to lead the design rather than planning every branch in advance. I used strong, dark contours to divide the surface into irregular sections, then filled the spaces with layers of turquoise, green, pink, gold, and violet. The sparkling finish catches the light differently across the painting, making the colours shift as the viewer’s perspective changes. The result holds both the weight of farewell and the brightness that can remain after it.
