It's Always You

I think we all have that one spot we run to when our heart needs a break. For me, it’s always the Golden Gate.
I’ve stood looking out at that bridge on my happiest days, and on the days where I just felt completely drained. It doesn’t matter if it’s wrapped in freezing fog or glowing under warm sunshine—every single visit gives you something totally new, but leaves you with the exact same gift: quiet. The minute you stand on that dirt path, smell the cold ocean air, and see the wild orange poppies dancing in the breeze, all the heaviness in your chest just melts away. You finally unclench your jaw. You take a real, deep breath.
I named this piece “It’s Always You” because through every season of my life, this view has been the one constant that makes me feel grounded and okay again.
I chose a round canvas so it feels like a soft little window right into that moment. I scooped thick paste with my palette knife to build the poppies petal by petal, so they actually lift out toward you, messy and vibrant and full of life, just like they grow on the edge of the cliffs.
I really wanted to create something that brings that gentle, comforting feeling inside your home—a piece you can look at while holding your morning coffee or coming home after a chaotic day, and just feel that quiet exhale wash over you.
