This oil painting combines an archival map with the scene of the horses at the water. The map is based on a reference painting from 1891 commissioned by the Dominion of Canada to record all Indian reservations across Canada under the 11 Treaties being negotiated at the time. The map in this scene is of the Treaty 7 region.
