At Dundarave Beach, a wave runs in and breaks on the pebbled shore, throwing up its bright white spray. This is the moment of the splash — foam flying, water leaping, the sea alive with movement and light. Beyond the breaking wave the water shines in turquoise and deep blue, sparkling under a clear sky, and a ship rests far out on the calm. Along the far shore a wooded point reaches into the sea, with the soft blue mountains rising behind. It is a small, joyful study of the coast, painted from life — the play of the water, the sparkle of the sun, and the pure delight of a wave catching the light as it splashes home.
