Oil and ink on canvas.

20x24"

This work represents a dialogue between the ancestral and the contemporary, between chaos and structure. The black lines, tangled and at the same time organized within a fragmented face, evoke the idea of identity in constant transformation. It suggests an evolving being, trapped between different times or dimensions, as if it were in a process of decomposition and reconstruction simultaneously.

The deep blue of the background conveys a feeling of mystery, of something hidden or immersed in collective memory, while the greenish textures and black strokes seem to want to reveal something forgotten or repressed. The figure is not completely human or completely abstract, which makes me think of the connection between the spiritual and the material, between the symbolic and the real.

As if this image captured an instant in the process of transformation of a mythological being or an idea under construction. In that sense, it makes me reflect on how individual and collective identities are intertwined with history and cultural memory.
