“Look in Her Eye” The title of this painting instructs the viewer to observe the literal gaze of the subject, but also ponder what she may be thinking of as she looks out. The weight of her world seems to be resting in her eyes. Her hand, which rests just under her chin, emphasizes contemplation. The lettering on the left has been washed over, hinting of her fading past and what she chooses to remember. Representing the present, she is firmly centered in the painting contemplating her next move. The work is unified by a turquoise field of abstract brushstrokes and an orange sun far off in the distance offers possible hope for the future.
