OMOTARA | Also comes in a digital created version

Omotara was inspired by my visit to a Black woman-owned hotel in Northern Virginia with beautiful equestrian grounds. What stayed with me was the softness of the experience, seeing Black women enjoying nature, interacting with horses, and simply existing in a space designed for leisure.

The name combines my Yoruba heritage with the name Tara, bringing together two distinct but connected identities: African and Black American.

I wanted the painting to reflect that intersection while capturing the quiet elegance of the experience. There is something beautiful about seeing Black women enjoying animals, the outdoors, and moments of ease.

I often choose names for my paintings that connect personal experiences with cultural references. Omotara is a reflection of both.
