This is part of the “Southwest” collection, where I depict some scenes in Southwest USA. I’ve always admired the almost other worldly, almost alien beauty of the desert landscapes of Southwestern USA, like the Saguaro National Park in Arizona with its strange flora, species of plants that exist no where else in the world. For this first piece in the collection, I wanted to highlight these majestic cactus plants, which I’ve heard are larger and stranger in real life. The painting was done with a backdrop of mountains and and then an almost landscape from which the saguaros arise. This painting, as well as the other paintings in the collection, are done with a limited palette of toned down earthy tones, colors that match the muted quality of the landscape.
The sides of canvas are painted using the same color palette as the painting. The artwork is signed and dated on the back. It is varnished and will arrive ready to hang.
