Sharon explores the beauty of a woman who has nothing to prove. Seated gracefully on horseback, dressed in an extravagant ivory gown and an oversized hat, she exists somewhere between the familiar and the unexpected.

I wanted to explore the idea of Black women enjoying life’s pleasures without those moments needing to represent struggle, resilience, or achievement. Sometimes beauty is simply about having the freedom to indulge, to be extravagant, and to enjoy an experience for no reason other than wanting to.

The contrast between her elaborate clothing and the traditional equestrian setting is intentional. She is not dressed for practicality, nor is she concerned with convention. Her presence feels natural because, in her world, it is.

Sharon is a portrait of leisure, personal expression, and the quiet pleasure of living entirely on one’s own terms.
