Through painting, I explore the relationship between a light source and a three-dimensional space. Using a unique ultra matte vinyl paint on canvas, I can change the values of my monochromatic palette to express the presence or absence of light.
Light, Colour and Form are the only elements present in “Colours in the shadows”, forcing the audience to focus on the obscurities, shapes and the sensation of the light.
The mysterious Light source, unknown but bright, is a force. The lack of details leave the audience to speculate where and what that light could be. After the light comes the Colour, colour after all is just perceived light with different wavelengths. The monochromatic values of the colour give the glow and expose the dimensional space. Finally, the Form, an imaginary or architectural space that the audience can loose themselves in.
Exploring these 3 elements (Light, Colour and Form), I have been able to create aesthetic satisfying visuals that would fit in many contemporary spaces without being too specific.
