Pedestrian pathway signs inspire my figurative work. As I walked along a public path, I became intrigued by the iconic walking figure shapes that were spray-painted using a stencil, yet no two figures were alike. Weathering had taken its toll. The figures become my irregularly shaped canvas to which I apply abstract painting techniques. As I work on my art, I think of how people influence one another and their environment - even by just walking past each other. We breathe the same air, drink the same water, and share unseen microorganisms.
