This new painting is part of my new series titled "Paint Music" containing classical music some of history’s most passionate expressions of love. The most universally celebrated romantic pieces include Sergei Rachmaninoff’s lush Piano Concerto No. 2 (Adagio), Gustav Mahler’s sweeping Adagietto from Symphony No. 5, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, and Frédéric Chopin’s intimate Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2.
Schubert accomplished in thirty-one years what most composers struggle to achieve in a lifetime. I wanted to capture that astonishing phenomenon—the richness, the ethereal beauty, the compressed intensity of genius. Working with a minimal palette of blues, purples, and brilliant yellows, I layered and collaged the canvas to create depth and luminosity. The result feels dreamy yet urgent, incomplete yet profound. This is my tribute to a composer whose brief life defied all comparison, whose music transcends time.
