This scene just wrecks me everytime. It's such a gripping moment of grief and forced acceptance while also eluding to the fact this character has done this many times before, and it's never easy. Yet he continues to do even though he knows the outcome before it even begins. A human trait that few are willing to do over and over.
I got a little into Doctor Who back when binge watching first came a thing. Like the only things streaming were older TV shows that had full seasons to binge. So I went through a bunch of different series, and I wanted to see what all the hype was for this weird show. Wasn't a huge fan of the Ninth Doctor, but the Tenth won me over and I became a fun on this campy fun adventure show. Far-fetched but always witty and emotional. David Tennant is a brilliant actor and brings a charming flair however this scene is burned in my brain for his range in portraying this mutli-sided character. Seemingly lone-wolf who at the core is just a warm-hearted being who truly loves hard and when this journey ends and he loses his travel companion, he just sells it. It's a meme now, but still harnesses that sort of pride entwined sadness that sort of encompasses the Tenth Doctor.

I did this portrait more landscape because I feel an added dissonance in asymmetrical images, and then having the rain being a way of utilizing the negative space to help build the overall scene and atmosphere. I wanted to do more for the rain than just a billion angled lines; using some drip techniques I wanted to bring in a "wet" feeling but still symbolize rain. Layering the drips and lines with different colors adds in some depth while giving some pops of neon for some energy. And I put lots of blue accents hidden in the background and hair to represent the colors of the Tardis.
