This picture is a reference to early Canadian history when the British fought the French in New France in 1759 and won. The British were allied with the Iroquois confederacy, the French partially with the Mi'kmaq tribe. As part of the treaty between the two nations, they allowed the french to keep their language and land and so Quebec still maintains its' culture today.
