While sitting on a park bench in Trinity Bellwoods Park near Little Italy and Little Portugal, I was able to watch, drink in the sights and sounds all around and let the sun, the memories and emotions inspire me. This painting is personal but I hope you sense the love I feel in this moment. Let the "Red Rocket" glide by on its way to tomorrow. As it goes by, let's sit for a while, you and I, and enjoy this moment. May it last forever.

On July 29, I had an incredible day spent on Lake Ontario. I traveled from Bluffers Park Marina across Toronto's magnificent harbour, to Toronto's islands. The day was magnificent, the scenery incredible, and the memories created by friends priceless. I decided to paint this moment to commemorate the day.

Starlight twinkles and dancing moonlight reflections on a pond at night. I imagine this Lovely waterlily emitting it's own light when it reflects in the water, one glorious bloom made more bright and beautiful because of the reflection. A blazing, romantic light, petals on petals, colour on colour, love on love caught beautifully like lovers in the night in their warm embrace. Two as one forever on this canvas. Beautiful, fiery and forever.

I've completed this piece with dynamic light and movement. It has it's own spirit, energy and is filled with purpose. It wants to be seen and appreciated. Peaceful, Quiet, Brilliant. Oil on Canvas, 18 x 24. This is the fourth in the Peaceful, Quiet Series of paintings.
I've added all the details to the water and given it a layering that truly gives the water a glistening shimmering dance of light. The sun has been blended in but it has it's own light as well. The overall feel of the painting is joy. Uplifting and a true tribute to joyous, ever-changing light. Bright, far-reaching and so beautiful. I chose Vivaldi's Four seasons, concerto in E minor for Violin captures the joy painted in this painting.

It's a painting that is a metaphor for much more on so many levels. We can all choose to walk past the dried leaves infront of us, push past those distractions or barriers, walk through cold waters towards light and love. We can't be afraid of moving forward because there is much to see, feel and explore. I choose light. I choose to be daring. I choose love always. So take my hand and walk with me. Hope that twinkles and dances on the waters of the new year. And there is love that will bend through trees, cross oceans, and warm your way. With every end there is a beginning. Out of the Shadows, Oil on Canvas. 18 inches by 24 inches (61 cm x 46 cm). I've completed this painting using a new process that is slightly different with diluted oil paint layered systematically. The atmosphere and light in this works has punch. I feel this painting is sassy, has attitude and it's own soul. When we move out of the ever changing colours of the shadows, where reds and blues collide, who knows what emotions are stirred. Move to the light, move towards love. Find that radiance and warmth to bath in and perhaps, every now and then be bold.

Peaceful, Quiet, Beautiful. Oil on Canvas, 18 x 24. This is the second in the Peaceful, Quiet Series of paintings. The painting is complete and drying. I'm very pleased with the result. The multilingual mantra of Peaceful, Quiet, Beautiful was a very moving experience for me and reflects the multicultural fabric of my great country. Stronger because of the wonderful mix of cultures and people. This red heart is beating passionately and with much love. This is a tribute to Canada with 100 languages and cultures reflected on each red maple leaf. Each echo the phrase, Peaceful , Quiet, Beautiful.

The final brush stroke has been added and I'm again transported back to the moment. Sun through the rustling leaves, a majestic tree proudly wearing years of wisdom, peaceful tranquility and quiet reflection. Still. Heartbeat. Warmth. And thoughts about my place in the here and now. In the Garden, Oil on Canvas, 16 x 20. An oil painting in an apple orchard that is also a metaphor. The light shines brightly through the tree branches and leaves to illuminate the apple in the garden. In completing this piece, I've made the lines look like a stain glass window much like those found in a Cathedral to give it a biblical feel. If the apple is love and free will, why wouldn't Eve pick it and take a bite? Given a choice to be submissive, subservient and obedient or have free will, intelligence and strength of character, of course she takes a bite. And of course, she chooses love. If Adam were a self confident strong individual, he would applaud and celebrate the choice. Or is it just an apple in a garden?

Garden Blossom Blast, Oil on Canvas, 22 x 28. In this large oil painting, I decided to paint one of the first clematis blossoms of the season at dusk on a wet day. What was absolutely wonderful was being able to paint diffused daylight, water and garden light through leaves. If you look closely you'll see the progression, layering and thought process. Painting with oil is always about patience, perseverance and planning. I feel that the photograph of this painting doesn't do it justice. It must be seen.

On the Verge of Spring, Oil on Canvas, 18 x 24. Every year at the beginning of March in Canada, we are between seasons. Winter snow is still around but in some places with some milder temperatures, icy lakes have melted and some evidence of spring's imminent approach is visible. This painting is about my desire for winter to be over and spring to be here. I love spring with its colour, new life, hopes and possibilities. This painting, with its brighter sky, shimmering water, elements of new growth is about anticipation.

Twilight Storm Clouds, Galway, Ireland. Oil on Canvas, 16 x 20. One evening, while walking into the central part of Galway, we noticed storm clouds rolling in. The clouds added an extra sense of drama to the evening with intense colours and light that shimmered on the waters.

Little Italy Remembered Circa 1970, College Street, Toronto, Ont. Oil on Canvas, 16 x 20. It was great to have grown up in the Little Italy area of Toronto. College Street was always a buzz of activity with merchants and their wear, family run grocery stores, cheese shops, fish mongers and vendors of bric a brac. Sights, sounds, smells galore. I loved those red brick buildings, old shops with awnings, and random window displays. But before the stores opened, and shops were set up, there was a quiet, a lull that was wonderful. This is my memory; slightly hazy, and still.

My Tulip Garden, Oil on Canvas, 18 x 24. I just added the last brush strokes to this piece; signed and varnished it. I'm very excited about My Tulip Garden because it is completely done out of my imagination. I wanted it to be a blaze of colour; bright and vibrant. I also wanted to paint a sense of movement in the tulips and leaves with great depth between foreground and back. The flowers pop and move depending on where you stand to view the work.

On the Edge, Cliffs of Moher, Republic of Ireland, Oil on Canvas, 16 x 20. When I visited Ireland, a must see is the Cliffs of Moher with its stunning view and soaring height at over 500 feet. What's interesting is that you can slip through the fencing and walk in a farmer's field along the edge; no fence or barrier in your way. Such an incredible sight to behold so I painted it!

Clematis on Red Brick (Oil on Canvas, 16 x 20) is a paintings that is inspired by clematis growing in my garden. They are spectacular when in bloom and add such a pop of colour. They always bring joy when in bloom, and remind me of how glorious nature can be. I hope you get the same feeling.

Winter Stream, Oil on Canvas, 16 x 20. Winter Stream is an imagined scene inspired by a trip to British Columbia. Streams in winter are magical. We've all seen them on a walk right after newly fallen snow. They are always wonderful to watch and very magical; the sound, the frozen edges, the clear water! Love fresh snow and the play of colour and shadow. They are never truly white. Have a look next time!

Viareggio Sunset, Lucca, Pisa, Tuscany Italy. Oil on Canvas, 11 x 14. I have been blessed to have been throughout Italy a number of times. On one trip, we were able to visit Lucca, Pisa with a final destination of Viareggio. We had a wonderful dinner in the hills that evening with family. I saw one of the most spectacular sunsets ever in Viareggio that blazed over the rolling waves. Here is my memory!

Azzurri Coast, Amalfi Coast, Italy. Oil on Canvas, 11 x 14. As part of my Amalfi blue Period, I am reminded of the many magnificent places to visit all along this magical coast. I am also reminded of the incredible pasta dishes, gelato, seafood and Lemons! I'm feeling the Azzurri magic set in again. I hope you do too.

Misty Morning, Quidi Vidi, St. John's Newfoundland, Canada. Oil on Canvas, 16 x 20. This is one of many that have been inspired by a recent visit to Newfoundland. On one misty, rainy morning, we headed over to Quidi Vidi and had a magical walk around this scenic spot. Despite the rain, mist and grey nature of the morning, Quidi Vidi did not disappoint! It was wonderful. After our walk we had a great meal at the historic Mallard Cottage in Quidi Vidi. This is an attempt at capturing the subdued colours and grey feel of the visit.

On a recent visit to Newfoundland, we decided to explore the Avalon Peninsula and the Irish loop. We came across a tiny community called Witless Bay. I decided to explore the beach and came across interesting rock formations, an incredible bay and wonderful reflections in the water. The sky was definitely Witless and spectacular!

This painting was inspired while visiting St. John's Newfoundland. Love the St. John's harbour and the narrows. I was stranded there because of hurricane Fiona. The morning after Fiona hit, there was an incredible sunrise against the backdrop of the Narrows. It was glorious!
