In Una Cosa Mentale 2 I layered images one upon another through the repeated application of thinned acrylic paint. Forms created earlier in time show through the surface, providing elusive suggestions of meaning while, at the same time, obscuring the meanings of forms superimposed upon them. The device is analogous to the working of memory when reason is suspended by sleep. Time is a constant and repeating theme in this painting. This painting’s essential elements reflect the fragmented world where small snippets, continual sound bites, visual clips, important details bombard our minds repeatedly.
