I took this photo at an art museum in Quito. After touring the museum, I circled the exterior in the light rain, looking for compositions. I was attracted to the repeating patterns of this outdoor ramp. Nearby, I saw a man unfold his brightly colored umbrella. He wasn’t yet on the ramp, but guessing he might head there, I found a spot with a clear view, out of the rain, and waited. I knew the rainbow would provide a sharp contrast with the muted colors of the wall. A few minutes later, he walked up the ramp.
