Story: White birches rise through a bright northern sky, their delicate branches opening toward the clouds. The small ladder is an unexpected detail that invites a second look. It suggests a way upward, a path toward a wider view, or a quiet human presence within the wilderness. Below, the dark evergreens anchor the scene, while the blue and pale yellow light keep it open and hopeful. The painting holds both solitude and possibility: a familiar forest becomes a place of discovery.

Process: I began intuitively with the sky, layering blues and soft yellow-white clouds to establish the light. I added the distant hills and evergreen line before bringing forward the white birches, using dark marks to define their bark. The ladder became a distinctive detail on the upper-right rise. I balanced the slender trunks against the denser forest below, adjusting branches and highlights until the scene felt grounded yet airy.
