Each summer along the coast of British Columbia, while the humpback whales are on their migration journey they return to feed in our rich coastal waters. This one surged upward in a spectacular lunge, engulfing a school of fish just beneath the surface. A whale’s feeding is never just its own—seabirds and other species soon gather, each taking part in the abundance, a living display of the ecosystem working together.
