The idea of horses on the open range illuminates in this image. The wagon wheel acts as a sort of compass that is reminiscent of the constant movement of horse herds. The pelts and map serve as reminders of lore and legend. People have always had a penchant for pelts and exotic finds. When I was in my twenties, I wanted to go and work on a dude ranch in the southern United States.
