I created this painting thinking of my grandmother.

I grew up in Illinois where you could see for miles. Hardly any trees in some farmland and big, open skies.

Whenever there was a storm coming, we could see dark clouds rolling in. Really quickly, my grandmother and I would dive into the kitchen and whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookies.

Then, we would go to the back stoop and sit there eating warm chocolate chip cookies. You could see lighting strikes as the clouds came closer. On the farm, there were lightning strikes over the out buildings.
