A Fairy Tale of the Land

From my patio the distant view turns into a fairy tale. Under the golden light, the whole garden seems to come alive — the trees rise up and dance, happy and laughing, stretching and swaying and sunbathing in the warm glow. Above them, whimsical clouds gather in playful groups, curling and curving and dancing across the sky over the far blue range of Vancouver Island. Closer in, a bushy maple stands half in shadow and half in the sun, waving its long branches and reaching up toward the light. Everywhere the leaves shimmer in gold and green, and little flowers open bright among the branches. There is no sorrow here, no shadow that lasts — only warmth, and light, and the pure joy of a garden that has come alive. Here, everything is happy.
