This painting is inspired by a personal story. I once received a necklace from someone who was once my partner and later became a friend. Though an ocean and continents separate us, the connection remained.
The necklace carried the word “always.” On the day it unexpectedly broke, I learned that he had gotten engaged. In that moment, the meaning of always changed. What once felt permanent came to an end.
