I’m drawn to that delicate place where something is still beautiful, but already beginning to slip away. Not gone. Not fully held. Just hovering there - between presence and disappearance. That’s what I was following in this painting. The florals are not meant to feel fixed or decorative. I wanted them to flicker in and out of focus, almost the way a feeling does, or a memory you can still touch for a moment before it changes shape. Some passages arrive vividly, others dissolve back into color and air. I think that’s what keeps me coming back to flowers in my work. They hold both things at once - beauty and impermanence. Softness and loss. Fullness and release. This piece lives in that in-between space.
