Birds of Paradise

I decided to create a community of birds that would not be found immediately together in nature; the tree outside of my studio window provided inspiration for me–the regularity of the branches and their unchanging colour was a way to connect the inhabitants of the painting while maintaining the exotic hues and intensity of their pigmentation. The tree was recently cut down, thus now this image contains a part of history.
