Earth First — Oil on canvas, 48 × 12 × 1.5 in. Part of the Endogenous / Exogenous series, 2022.
A companion piece to Almost Sky, painted the same day on the same format. Here the balance shifts — a churned, heavily textured earth in deep ochre, umber, and slate occupies the lower third, every mark built exclusively with a palette knife. Above it, a pale luminous sky, barely inflected with warmth. The ground demands attention; the sky offers release. Together, the two works form a complete conversation about weight and lightness.
Works well paired with Almost Sky as a diptych installation, or independently in horizontal spaces.

Une œuvre compagnon d'Almost Sky, peinte le même jour au même format. Ici l'équilibre bascule — une terre travaillée et fortement texturée en ocre profond, ombre et ardoise occupe le tiers inférieur, chaque marque construite exclusivement au couteau. Au-dessus, un ciel pâle et lumineux, à peine teinté de chaleur. Le sol exige l'attention ; le ciel offre la détente. Ensemble, les deux œuvres forment une conversation complète sur le poids et la légèreté.
Convient en diptyque avec Almost Sky, ou indépendamment dans des espaces horizontaux.
