Brianna Morrell

Acrylic on wood.

36x72x5"

Constructed from recycled wood, metal pipe, rope, spray paint, and acrylic, this large-scale mixed-media sculpture centers around one question: Would you take the bait?

Using the familiar form of an oversized trap, the work explores temptation, greed, opportunity, and the pursuit of money and success. The bait represents the things we are taught to chase—wealth, status, security, and the promise of something better—while the trap questions what we may sacrifice in order to obtain them.

By transforming discarded and recycled materials into an exaggerated object of temptation, the piece asks viewers to consider where ambition ends and entrapment begins. When the reward is sitting directly in front of you, even when you can see the potential consequences, would you still take the bait?

Original, one-of-one mixed-media sculpture.
