Celebration For My Ancestors

In some native cultures, the hummingbird represents a reminder of our ancestors or loved ones whom have passed away. The middle image depicts a picture of my aunt who was at the time working inside her adobe kitchen in Michoacan, Mexico. Her adobe kitchen was so closed-off that and without windows therefore her kitchen would fill up with smoke. She is flipping tortillas with her right hand and holding on to a wooden tortilla maker with her left hand. These tools commonly used in indigenous cultures. Her braided hair and apron were a staple to the common way of dressing during these days.
Overall, this image celebrates culture, and at a deeper level, a celebration of life for the ones we love.
