In the symbolic universe of the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean, the Cemí was much more than an object; it was a bridge between the earthly and the spiritual, between the ancestors and the present. Carved in stone or wood, these sacred icons carried the essence of the earth, the rain, the thunder, and gave visible shape to the invisible. In this painting, the Cemí is reborn and does it as an evolution. The central figure emerges as a vestige of the ancestral, but reconfigured with a unique and personal language.
