These figures are hand-cut from a single sheet of white acrylic. They are painted with active metallic acrylic paint, acrylic with ground iron particles, copper particles, and bronze. The metallic paints are coated with an oxidizing agent that causes them to "rust," producing these rich color patinas of iron oxide, copper oxide, and blackened bronze. The material is then cured, sealed, and varnished. I think of these human figures as an irregularly shaped canvas on which to explore abstract expressions as well as diversity and inclusion.
