“Bossy with a little bit of Childish” Male Version
Acylic on Canvas
I had to do a version for my males!!
This is piece was created to showcase my fun childish side. Sometimes as a business people we always have to be serious and on top of our game. When in reality as an artist we’re goofy and free spirited, I wanted to showcase that through this pieces with Mario Kart characters . Mario Kart is one of my favourite childhood game so it only seemed right! I still play it till this day :)
Tears are always there but I choose to hide them. I’ve really mastered smiling through the pain, I hate to show any sides of weakness or failure. But I can’t carry this burden alone, the pain just keeps on spreading like a fire in a burning room. I feel like I can’t breathe I’m slowly losing air, trying to hold on to what little happiness I have left. But I can’t bring myself t tell anyone so I’ll smile through the pain.
In order for you to fully feel free you must first find your balance and individualism. This is something I’m struggling with on a day to day basis, I want to do so many things but my mind and body are so burnt out. Finding your balance is so key because it helps you see clearly and elevate more then you ever imagined. Seek your balance and you will be free. This is the path to freedom.
This piece is the first painting I created in 2023. “Babe you’re loved” is about accepting and appreciating everything that makes you different and unique. This year is all about redemption and self love, all the hurt and pain from the past we’re burning it and rebuilding a new bridge to walk on. Good vibes equals a good life, this is the start of 2023.
This piece was created to display our daily trend setters, being authentic and unique is something I’ve always valued. My art is a representation of myself and who I’m as an artist. I strive to be creative, think and live outside of the box as well as challenge myself. I created my own path this is the trend setter.
This piece is displaying the beauty of black women and how we age so gracefully. Butterflies are nature’s angels, they remind us what a gift it is to be alive. This is how I feel about black women. We are such enchanted creatures. Truly awakening in our own time.
This piece is called “My Hair, My Journey “
It displays the wave of emotions black women deal with when it comes to their hair. Our hair is our crown and we wear it well even with everything the world throws us. This is our story this is our journey.
Bad Gyal RiRi
Acylic on Canvas
This painting doesn’t need much explaining “Bad Gyal RiRi” is a portrait of the iconic and liberating women Rihanna. I’ve been obsessed with Rihanna since I was a kid, she has always been so real and raw with her craft and everyday life. In the last couple of years, she has changed the game and gave a voice as well as platform for plus size and anyone who is different from the average model. She not only is a music icon but a fashion and make-up diva who took over the game. Rihanna taught me the sky is the limit your craft can evolve beyond where you started. The opportunity to do more and help more is always out there grab it conquer it and spread it.
Who is your protector? Is it your brothers? Your father? Your Partner? The People? My is my brothers they are literally my everything they keep me calm and together in a world full of chaos. I can always depend and count on them for anything they truly are my protectors.
This piece showcases black man who consistently hustle and thrive on a day to day basis. Black men carry so much pain and strength from sunrise till night fall everyday. In this society there is so much pressure to do better be better and hide all your emotions. We’re all humans so it’s okay not to be 100% all the time, crying is a way to release and reset. This is a new era.
This is piece was created to showcase the mind of a hustler/entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur we are always over-flooded with ideas, problems and solutions. Each day we find more and more ways to change the game and stay one step a head of everyone. In our line of work there is no problems only solutions, but is this a blessing or a curse when will it truly ever be enough or time to rest? This is the mind of a hustler.
This image is apart of the “Zulu Queen” Original series I often paint a lot of female-based paintings, so I decided to do something powerful for the men to embrace. Men have always been taught to be strong and hold their emotions inside because this is often seen as a sign of weakness. In doing this they carrier around so much angry and pain towards life and loved ones. In life you must embrace all the good and bad without experiencing sadness or pain you wouldn’t be able to appreciate and understand true happiness
This is one of my most popular pieces called “Zulu Queen” the bantu knots hairstyle presented comes from the tribe in southern Africa called the Zulu people. The Zulu tribe is one of the largest ethic group and nation in south Africa with an estimate of 10-12 million people living mainly in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. Growing up I was always insecure about my hair because it was very thin, curly, and short. Due to those barriers mentioned before hairstyles were very limiting for me and often made me feel left out. As I got older, I started to embrace my hair and what I still could do, I became more in love with being different and unique.
This piece is called “The Boss Lady” which is one of the last pieces for the exhibition. The image displays a woman that has evolved and finally found herself as well as the life she wants to live. Through all the ups and down there was so many beautiful and sad moments but they all lend to the right path. I’m still growing and learning as a person but everyday is another day to boss up, to either create opportunities or take advantage of the ones that come our way. This is the process of rebirth.
This piece was created at a dark place in my life I was going through a series of depression and self worth. The image captures a woman at her lowest point trying to pick herself back up but still struggling. As women we are always taught to be strong and independent, never weak or broken. Throughout time I had to learn that sometimes it is okay to be down and cry everything out. At times we don’t realize how much pain we can release through tears. We might feel alone at times, but nothing is forever this is just apart of the journey to a better path.
“Cry your heart out it will clean your face, when your in your in doubt go at your own paste”-Adele
This piece was done on live with a class I was teaching on blending! I wasn’t sure where I was going with the piece and that’s what made it so beautiful. It was created to showcase black women in the most beautiful light among one of our animal prints.
This piece is dedicated to the most creative and iconic female artist in the game “Missy Elliot”. Missy has giving us some of the most iconic looks and videos of our era, she has pushed so many boundaries and barriers within the fashion game. She not only killed everything she touched but has really turned herself into a fine masterpiece and will forever be known as a Queen boss who changed the game.
This piece is dedicated to one of the greatest female rapper “Eve”. I created this piece because eve has taught me how to stand out and be different. Eve taught me where there isn’t a path for you create one.
This piece is to shed light on the big girls and how we view ourselves! Plus size women have never been accepted into the modelling community, due to the fact that we are not the typically beauty standard. But in the last couple of years we have pushed the boundaries and made our own paths to dominate the game. We have so many plus size celebrities changing the game I just pray I’m one of them. Plus size women will forever and still be the it girl.
This piece was created to showcase some of my favourite black owned luxury brands. These brands have pushed passed all barriers and odds against us to create something by us for us. They give us all the luxury lifestyle we need at an affordable price. The iconic colours and materials bring the black culture to a whole new meaning and life. Black women are the blueprint!
This piece tells the story of an artist dealing with an artist block. Do you ever feel like you have so many ideas and goals but you can’t seem to just put them into existence or place? Everything in your head feels like a crashing wave taking you further and further away from shore. This is my thoughts,my struggle, my own fears blocking the door. I can see the light it’s just not clear enough.
This piece discusses the topic of masculinity and men being looked as weak for showcasing there emotions. We’re all humans and go through a constant struggle day in and day out with our mental health. I can’t imagine the pain and struggle men gone through to be strong for everyone. This piece is you finally breaking down those barriers and embracing everything that comes with it. You are the key to your own happiness and success, unlocked the door and let everything in.
This is piece was created to showcase my fun childish side. Sometimes as a business women we always have to be serious and on top of our game. When in reality as an artist we’re goofy and free spirited, I wanted to showcase that through this pieces with the looney tunes. Looney tunes is one of my favourite childhood shows so it only seemed right!
