Inspired by René Magritte’s iconic painting The Son of Man, Daughter of Woman reimagines the surrealist motif through a contemporary female lens. A woman stands before a manicured hedge and swimming pool, her face obscured not by an apple but by a lemon bearing a commercial produce sticker.

The lemon introduces layered symbolism—suggesting bitterness, labeling, and the commodification of identity. By replacing the anonymous male figure of Magritte’s work with a woman in a vibrant floral dress, the painting contrasts feminine ornamentation with the concealment of individuality.

Both playful and unsettling, the work explores how women are seen, categorized, and defined within cultural and consumer frameworks. Through surreal imagery and quiet humor, Daughter of quiet humor, Daughter of Woman invites viewers to question the ways identity is constructed and obscured.
