Flamingo Flourish

It was summer when I went to visit the flamingos in the Köln zoo. The intense, multiple hues of the numerous birds caught my eye.

At home in the fall I began to paint my vivid memory from a photo I had taken while I was at the zoo. I did not realize I would insert leaves in autumn colours–I must have chosen this motif subconsciously because of what I was seeing on my treks outdoors in the fall season here, at home.

The flamingos depicted in their unnatural element became like an ancient tapestry on a wall in a high-ceilinged abode.
