Glorious Gladiolus

I was walking through a garden with my mother when I saw these Gladiolus. Like many of my subjects, it called to me and said, "paint me". I was captivated by the bold colours and dynamic composition. This painting is an experiment where I have painted the background in a more impressionistic style while the Gladiolus flowers are in my typical realistic style.
